The bass from the party rattled the windows before I even stepped out of my car. Of course my best friend had insisted I come. “Everyone’s going to be there,” she’d promised. She conveniently forgot to mention her brother. The front door was already open, music spilling into the street as people laughed, drank, and shouted over one another. I slipped inside, scanning the packed house until I spotted my best friend waving from the kitchen.
